What is biofortification?
Ans: Biofortification is the process of breeding crops with higher levels of vitamins and minerals, or higher protein and healthier fats. Breeding for improved crops with higher levels of vitamins and minerals, or higher protein and healthier fats.
Breeding is done with the objective of improving protein content and quality. Oil content and quantity, vitamin content and micronutrient and mineral content. Eg of biofortification : Vitamin A enriched carrots, spinach, pumpkin, vitamin c enriched bitter gourd
